Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident made him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
